The purpose of Sappho Women and the International Eressos Women’s Festival is to create a safe, inspiring, and women-centred space in the historic village of Skala Eressos — a place long celebrated for its connection to Sappho and to women-loving-women communities worldwide. Our festival brings together women from across the globe to honour their diversity, creativity, and shared experiences.
Through a rich programme of workshops, events, performances, and cultural activities, we aim to empower women, strengthen community bonds, and offer opportunities for personal expression, discovery, and connection within a supportive queer-women environment.
As a local organisation, Sappho Women is committed to contributing to the vitality of Skala Eressos by extending the season, supporting local businesses, and fostering meaningful collaborations with groups who share our commitment to the well-being and equality of women and the wider LGBTQI+ community.
In essence, our purpose is to celebrate women’s diversity, nurture a sense of belonging, and uphold the unique cultural heritage that makes Eressos a cherished home for queer women and their allies.
