Dear Sappho Women festival family,

We would like to thank everyone for your overwhelming and heartwarming reactions last Sunday, when we published our very difficult decision to postpone this years festival. Your support means the world to us, and we’re deeply sorry that we won’t be able to make it happen as we thought. Despite having to reschedule our festival, we’re continuing our work on the 20th anniversary edition with positivity and enthusiasm.

If you purchased wristbands for our 2020 festival, you have several options.

* You can donate the cash value of your tickets to the festival.
* You can exchange your tickets for a credit voucher that you yourself or someone else can use for the 2021 festival.
* Another option is to have the value of your tickets split between a donation and a credit voucher.
* We appreciate your choosing one of the above options; however, if none of the above options work for you, we’ll gladly issue a full refund.

As you weigh these options, please consider that we are a small and independent non-profit organisation and that this is a challenging time for us as well. Your financial investment literally creates this event every year, and your funds go right to the heart of the festival. Our festival is primarily funded by the wristbands and tickets you purchase, and your money is used to cover numerous expenses, including rent for the cinema, sound equipment, flight tickets, rooms and fees for artists, programme printing and festival promotion in general. Our expenses aren’t limited to the activities during the two weeks in September however, as our team meanwhile works year round to organise the festival for you. If you are able, we ask that you keep your support with Sappho Women, as we continue our work during the upcoming months to create an even more special experience for us all next year. If we don’t hear from you by 1st of July, 2020, we’ll donate the cash value of your wristband to the festival.

If you haven’t purchased a wristband, and would still like to make a donation to the festival, then please get in touch with us. Any of the above requests can be made via We kindly ask for everyone to be patient and compassionate as we work through the process of addressing your questions and concerns.

Our website, banners and wristbands will be updated with the new dates for 2021 as soon as possible, and our wristband sales will resume again towards the end of this month.

We are very grateful for your continued support for us, our village, and our local community, and we look forward to 2021 and to sharing with you our most meaningful festival edition yet. Until then, please be safe and stay well.

With love,
Wendy, Ioanna and Liz
