Movement on The Ground X Guantana is MOTG’s latest project in Lesvos, Greece — a collaboration between a local Greek designer and a tailor with refugee background⁩. By repurposing surplus clothing donations and fabrics, this initiative transforms discarded materials into valuable and meaningful upcycled items, all while advocating for social integration, environmental responsibility, and financial sustainability.

The Atelier is designed as a long-term, sustainable solution to an unsustainable donation-based framework. Traditional donations often create a power imbalance, reinforcing dependency rather than fostering self-sufficiency. The Atelier challenges this model by ensuring that every contribution is an exchange—supporters purchase something unique and meaningful while directly investing in the artisans behind it and in the wider MOTG’s humanitarian operations in Greece. This innovative approach promotes dignity, circular economy practices, and environmental sustainability.
