... a dark Salon de TangoLas Chicas
More than 5 years now, Sasja & Jantien, better known as "Las Chicas" in Amsterdam, Paris and Buenos Aires, give their Tango lessons mostly for women. They started dancing Argentinean Tango, because they were touched by the way this dance is danced, its culture, the songs, like poems almost and of course the music, with its beautiful Bandoneon.
They teach the so-called Tango de Salon. Its an introvert dance and is danced all over the world in salons. In this course you will learn the basic steps, but more important they try to give you the feeling of what Tango is all about.
When they were in Buenos Aires, the most important thing they were given by the maestros, was the Key of the Tango, which was dancing with your heart. In a short time, they will try to let you feel a little bit of this Corazon de Tango. So at least, you can drift away, together with your (dancing) partner on the melodious tones of the Bandoneon.
Sasja & Jantien dance a mixture of Tango the Salon and Tango Espectaculo. The last one is more like stage tango and thus more extrovert. Most important thing is, people can see also our feet. If they can only see the top of a dancingcouple, they can not see much.
Maybe you have seen the film Tango Lessons, of Sally Potter. In this film you get a good picture of dancing on stage and dancing in de salons.
