The Moon Kantina Cup

For those of you who fancy a bit of fun AND healthy competition, why not join our five-a-side women only ball tournament.

Team lists will be available from 10th of September onwards and the whole thing is great fun and very simple. The Competition itself will start from 12th of September, and make sure you gather for this at The Moon Kantina on the beach !

How to join ?

Put your names down to make a team of Five and meet at The Moon Kantina on Tuesday 12th at 17.00hrs. Just outside, in front of The Kantina Moon, you will find the volleyball net for the competition.

5€ PER TEAM

ALL proceeds from this competition will go to "EreSOS for Animals" a charity based in Skala Eressos helping animals in need of re-homing and treatments.

How to play Beach Volleyball ?

There will be a minimum of ten players (5 per side) and games will be played up to 15 points, earning a point only when you win a rally where you serve. Games will be two halves, ten minutes each half and a change of ends just in case you have the sun in your faces !

The rules are simple. The ball mustn't touch the ground on your side of the net, when it does, the other team get the point.

The team with the most points at the end of each 20 minute game go forward to the next round ... Great fun is had by all and the winners get the medals !

1. Serve only once per turn and within the court lines (draw a line in the sand to mark these), or forfeit the ball to your opponents.
2. Hit the ball a maximum of three times before it must go over the net to your opponents.
3. Bump the ball to a setter, who sets the ball for the spiker, who spikes the ball over the net. Do this without grabbing the ball or allowing it to rest in your hands. The same person cannot contact the ball twice in a row unless the first touch is off a block at the net.
4. Avoid touching the net at all times or lose the ball, and possibly a point.
5. Rotate player positions clockwise whenever your team has won a change in possession (called a 'sideout,' it's when it's your turn to serve).
